Confirmed COVID Case

Date: Thursday 12th November 2020

Positive COVID case in school

Statement from Matthew May the Head of School at Kempston Challenger Academy.

We can confirm that a student in Year 11 has tested positive for COVID-19.

In line with the Department for Education and Public Health England’s advice, students and staff who had close contact with the student are now self-isolating and will return to school on 26th November 2020. Cleaning has been undertaken in line with recommendations.

In the meantime, we will provide virtual learning for any students who are self-isolating, so that their learning can continue uninterrupted.

As per the advice given to us by Public Health England, only students and staff who have had contact with the confirmed case, or been within a close proximity of the case, are required to self-isolate. To all other students, the school remains open as normal.

We remain confident that the measures we have taken to mitigate the risk of transmission of the virus in school are robust. The safety of everyone in our school community, and their families, remains our top priority.

We would like to thank all our students and staff for following our safety measures so rigorously. We would also like to thank our parents for being so supportive, patient and understanding.

We continue to highly recommend that all students respect the rules of creating space, wearing face coverings, where appropriate, in the school building and cleaning their hands frequently.
