We welcome our new Headteacher

Welcome to what might be your first contact with Kempston Challenger Academy. We hope that this website provides you with a helpful and informative introduction to KCA as well as giving you a glimpse of everyday life at the School. We were delighted to be awarded an Ofsted ‘Good’ rating in September 2018, as a culmination of the commitment to excellence that staff and students have made in the two years since Kempston Challenger Academy was opened.

Here at KCA we are very proud of the fact that we serve the local community and our vision is to create a school that everyone is proud of and one which inspires individuals, enables success and provides opportunities for all. Our core aim is to provide students with a wide variety of opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. It is this access to a variety of different learning opportunities that enables every student to make progress through the school, culminating with performing to the best of their ability in their formal GCSE/ A Level qualifications. The acquisition of as many skills and experiences as possible whilst at Kempston Challenger Academy allows students to take charge of their own destinies. For some of our students this means securing places at top universities in the country, for others it will be to obtain a high quality apprenticeship or to go off to college to follow vocational qualifications leading to successful and sustained employment. The school’s ambitions and expectations for all its students are the same, regardless of background, prior achievements or ambition – we will challenge, support and develop all our students to excel. We do not accept excuses and will ensure that all barriers to learning are removed or overcome.

As well as the focus on academic studies, we continue to offer our exciting and innovative addition to our curriculum; Challenger Diploma.  It offers students the opportunity to develop their skills and talents beyond the classroom.  Our aim is that every student achieves a Challenger Diploma award at either bronze, silver or gold level throughout the academic year.  A wide variety of activities will be offered for every student, striving for each individual to develop their skills and attributes under the Challenge, Motivation, Ambition and Team categories (CMAT).  The school offers a wide variety of extra curricular opportunities ranging from competitive sports fixtures, recreational sports clubs, drama productions, an award winning cheerleading squad, debate societies, STEM events, to name but a few. Any student who participates in activities outside of school life can gain credits towards their Challenger Diploma qualification.

Our aim is to instil in all our students the belief to ‘know they can achieve as this is the first step to success. We expect students to ‘commit to caring,’ about themselves, their future and others and we will always encourage them to ‘aim higher.’

These three values make up the ‘KCA way’

KNOW YOU CAN

COMMITMENT TO CARE

ALWAYS AIM HIGHER

We believe in the power of partnerships with home and with members of the local community and vigorously promote these in order to help achieve our aims. We look forward to working with you in what we confidently believe will be a successful partnership.

We have a small number of places for students in some year groups. If you would like to consider Kempston Challenger Academy for your own child please do contact the school on 01234 290900 or office@kempstonchallengeracademy.org to arrange a visit.

I look forward to welcoming you to the school.
