Good attendance is essential if students are to take full advantage of school and gain the appropriate skills, which will equip them for life. The Academy aims to achieve good attendance by operating an attendance policy within which students, staff, parents and the Education Welfare service can work in partnership. The school will monitor attendance and ensure quick and early intervention if a problem has been identified.
If a student is unfit for school, it is vital that parents make contact with the academy in the morning on the first day of absence.
Punctuality is equally important both in terms of arriving at school and being on time for lessons. A warning bell is rung at 8:40 and 13:55. This is the signal for students to move to lessons. Any student arriving after 08:45 in the morning and 14:00 in the afternoon is marked late.
If you must leave school during the day for any reason, then please bring a note from your parents in advance of the date. If special circumstances arise during the day that requires you to go home, arrangements must be agreed with your Tutor / Head of Year / or Main Reception. You must sign out at Reception and show a note from home, countersigned by staff. If you return to school later on the same day, then you must sign in again at Reception.
Under no circumstances are you allowed to leave the academy site without permission.
